About Anti-Ragging Cell
The Anti-Ragging Cell at Dr. Samuel George Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences is established in accordance with the guidelines of the University Grants Commission (UGC) and in view of directions of the honourable Supreme Court of India to ensure a safe, secure, and respectful environment for all students on campus. The Cell is committed to eradicating the menace of ragging and fostering a culture of mutual respect, empathy, and academic integrity among students.
Ragging in any form — physical, verbal, psychological, or cyber — is strictly prohibited on campus, in hostels, transport vehicles, and affiliated areas. The institution upholds a zero-tolerance policy towards ragging and ensures prompt action against defaulters.
Objectives of the Anti-Ragging Cell
- To create awareness about the consequences of ragging through orientations, displays, and sensitization programs.
- To maintain a ragging-free environment by implementing preventive measures on campus.
- To receive and address any complaints or reports of ragging swiftly and fairly.
- To promote student welfare and harmonious relationships between juniors and seniors.
- To monitor hostel premises, common areas, and public spaces during academic sessions.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Conduct awareness programs at the start of each academic year.
- Install anti-ragging boards and circulate anti-ragging regulations throughout the campus and hostels.
- Receive complaints via dedicated email, drop box, or in person.
- Conduct inquiries and submit findings to the Principal for appropriate disciplinary action.
- Ensure the functioning of Anti-Ragging Squads for surprise inspections at vulnerable spots.
- Maintain confidentiality and protect complainants from victimization.
Preventive Measures
- Mandatory submission of anti-ragging undertakings by students and parents at admission.
- Display of anti-ragging rules and helpline numbers at prominent locations.
- Regular orientation and counseling sessions for students and hostel residents.
- Close surveillance in hostels, canteens, classrooms, and campus premises.
