About SC-ST Cell

The Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) Cell at Dr. Samuel George Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences has been constituted as per the guidelines of the University Grants Commission (UGC), Pharmacy Council of India (PCI), and Government of India to safeguard the rights, welfare, and academic interests of students and staff belonging to SC and ST communities. The Cell ensures that the benefits of government policies, scholarships, and welfare schemes are effectively extended to eligible students and faculty.

The institution is committed to promoting an inclusive and equitable academic environment where students from all backgrounds can thrive with dignity, equal opportunity, and mutual respect.

Objectives of the SC-ST Cell

  • To implement and monitor welfare schemes and scholarships provided by the government for SC/ST students.
  • To address the academic, financial, and social concerns of SC/ST students.
  • To function as a grievance redressal mechanism for SC/ST students and staff regarding issues of discrimination or denial of rights.
  • To sensitize the campus community on the constitutional provisions, policies, and rights of SC/ST categories through awareness programs.
  • To promote inclusive participation in academic, co-curricular, and institutional activities.

Functions of the SC-ST Cell

  • Collecting data of SC/ST students admitted to various programs.
  • Providing guidance on application procedures for government scholarships and welfare schemes.
  • Ensuring proper implementation of reservation policies in admissions and recruitments as per regulations.
  • Conducting orientation, awareness, and counseling programs for SC/ST students.
  • Coordinating with government and affiliating university offices for matters related to SC/ST welfare.
  • Addressing grievances, if any, and resolving them promptly through the Cell and Institutional Grievance Redressal Committee.

Complaint Mechanism

SC/ST students can directly approach the Cell through:

  • Faculty Coordinator or any committee member
  • Written grievance submission at the SC-ST Cell office

All complaints are handled confidentially and resolved promptly following institutional and statutory norms.
