About the R&D Cell
The Research & Development (R&D) Cell at Dr. Samuel George Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences has been established to nurture a vibrant research culture, promote innovative thinking, and encourage interdisciplinary research activities among students and faculty. The Cell plays a pivotal role in supporting quality research in pharmaceutical sciences through capacity building, project facilitation, academic collaborations, and knowledge dissemination.
The R&D Cell actively promotes socially relevant, industry-oriented, and translational research aligned with global healthcare needs and national priorities. It facilitates faculty and students in securing research grants, publishing in reputed journals, filing patents, and participating in conferences and scientific forums.
Objectives of the R&D Cell
- To cultivate and strengthen a research-driven academic environment within the institution.
- To encourage faculty and students to undertake research projects, publications, and patent filings.
- To facilitate institutional research collaborations, consultancies, and MoUs with industry and academic bodies.
- To identify and promote participation in funded research opportunities from government agencies and private sectors.
- To organize research workshops, conferences, and seminars for academic enrichment.
- To monitor research ethics, plagiarism guidelines, and intellectual property rights (IPR) compliance.
Functions of the R&D Cell
- Facilitating proposal submission for funded research projects to various government and private agencies.
- Encouraging faculty and students to present and publish papers in indexed and peer-reviewed journals.
- Coordinating the submission and maintenance of project records, publications, and patents filed/granted.
- Maintaining a repository of research publications, completed projects, and funded grants.
- Organizing research methodology workshops, technical seminars, and IPR awareness programs.
- Scrutinizing Ph.D., PG, and UG research projects for quality assurance and ethical compliance.
- Promoting student research culture by mentoring research projects, paper presentations, and innovation challenges.

- Facilitated submission of research proposals for funding to ANRF, DST, ICMR, SERB, and University research grants.
